Man faces court over Vic woman's murder

A man has faced court after a woman's body was discovered on a Melbourne soccer field.

A man accused of raping and killing a woman who was found dead on a soccer field in Melbourne's inner north has appeared in court.

Jaymes Todd, 19, from Broadmeadows, appeared in Melbourne Magistrate Court on Thursday charged with rape and murder, after handing himself into police on Wednesday night.

The body of Eurydice Dixon, 22, was found on the field between Royal Parade and Princes Park Drive at Carlton North by a passerby at 3am on Wednesday.
