PM tells church to put child safety first

June 13, 2018

Malcolm Turnbull says abuse survivors have been believed, many of them for the first and only time.

The federal government will release its response to the child sexual abuse royal commission on Wednesday.

The final report of the commission, which was established in 2013 and heard years of evidence from abuse survivors and their families, was released in December and included 409 recommendations.

The commission called for the establishment of a redress scheme for abuse survivors, which is due to begin on July 1 with the support of all states and territories and major churches.
