Seven Network, in partnership with Foxtel, has won the media rights for Australian cricket.

Nine and Ten have admitted defeat in the bidding war for cricket's TV rights amid rumours Foxtel and the Seven Network have triumphed with a $1 billion deal.

Nine, which has been the sport's free-to-air broadcaster for four decades, says it is "immensely proud" of its long association with the sport but that it wishes Cricket Australia and its new broadcast partners well.

CBS-owned Ten says it is disappointed that its bid has been rejected, as the rival statements seemingly confirm rumours Cricket Australia has sealed a deal with pay-TV giant Foxtel and free-to-air network Seven.
