Thorburn's 'grief' after alleged NAB fraud

April 11, 2018

NAB CEO Andrew Thorburn feels hurt after hearing a colleague allegedly committed fraud.

National Australia Bank chief executive Andrew Thorburn says he has been hurt by a situation where allegations have been made that someone with whom he had "a longstanding personal relationship" was involved in a multi-million dollar corporate fraud against the lender.

Police raided two businesses and a home in Sydney on Tuesday as part of an investigation into an alleged fraud understood to involve an ex-NAB employee and a former supplier.

"I'm hurt because there are people here who are alleged to have been involved that I know who they are and - particularly in one case - I've had a longstanding personal relationship," Mr Thorburn told reporters on Wednesday.
