Police actions scrutinised in SA inquest

February 15, 2018

Police handling of Rodney Clavell that led to his death has been questioned in an inquest (File).

Police should access the mental health records of an offender when considering apprehension tactics, an Adelaide inquest has heard.

Lawyers presented closing submissions on Thursday during an inquest into the death of fugitive Rodney Clavell, who died after a 12-hour siege at an Adelaide brothel in 2014.

In one of four recommendations made to the court, counsel assisting Ahura Kalali said police should obtain an offender's mental health records for a psychological opinion when making tactical decisions.
