Origin Energy lifts guidance after H1 loss

February 15, 2018

Origin Energy CEO Frank Calabria says there is positive momentum within the company.

Origin Energy has dramatically narrowed its half-year loss to $207 million, from $1.56 billion, but has still been weighed down by $533 million in impairments.

Underlying profit, however, jumped to $428 million from $173 million - helped by improvement in its electricity and gas businesses and a ramp-up in production at the Australia Pacific LNG terminal.

Origin did not declare an interim dividend, citing its focus on reducing debt.
