Palmer threatens to walk away from Yabulu

Clive Palmer says orders sought by liquidators would prevent him reopening a nickel refinery (file).

Businessman Clive Palmer says he will not reopen the closed Yabulu Nickel refinery in Townsville unless liquidators drop a bid to freeze his assets.

The former MP has flagged the possibility of using the proceeds of his $197 million court victory against Chinese company Citic in Western Australia.

But in court documents, Mr Palmer says that orders sought by liquidators for the failed Queensland Nickel would make it unworkable to reopen the refinery and threatened to simply "enjoy the fruits" of the court win if they were granted.
