Police defend high-risk focus on Clavell

February 12, 2018

Police have defended raising the level of their hunt for Rodney Clavell before his death (file).

Senior South Australian police have defended a decision to elevate the hunt for Rodney Clavell to the serious crime task force in the lead-up to a 12-hour siege at an Adelaide brothel which ended when he took his own life.

Assistant Commissioner Peter Harvey has told an inquest into Clavell's death that the 46-year-old was considered a high-risk offender.

He said that assessment didn't just relate to the offences Clavell was wanted for and what charges may be laid against him, but also to other police information and intelligence.
