Alleged hospital shooter denied bail

February 12, 2018

The man accused of shooting policeman Luke Warburton at a Sydney hospital is seeking bail (file).

A man accused of shooting a NSW police officer at a western Sydney hospital more than two years ago is seeking bail ahead of a trial later this year.

It was previously alleged that Michael de Guzman held scissors to a doctor's throat at Nepean Hospital in January 2016 before shooting the policeman and a security officer who went to the woman's aid.

His lawyer Eidan Havas argued for bail at the Downing Centre District Court on Monday, saying the 41-year-old faced more than two-and-a-half years behind bars before a trial verdict.
