Auction volumes nearly doubled in a week, but Sydney home prices fell again

Auctions across Australia's combined capital cities have recovered from their post-Christmas lull, but Sydney home values have fallen again.

There were 1,464 homes taken to auction last week across Australia's five major capital cities, almost double the 790 held the previous week, preliminary figures from property data group CoreLogic show.

Auction clearance rates improved on the previous week and home prices were flat except for in the key Sydney market, where prices slipped 0.2 per cent.
