February 12, 2018

The Russian government says a passenger plane crashed near Moscow, likely killing all 71 on board.

A plane crash near Moscow has left no survivors, Russian media reports.

News reports said 71 people - 65 passengers and six crew - were aboard the plane heading for the city of Orsk, about 1500 km southeast of Moscow when it crashed on Sunday afternoon.

The An-148 regional jet disappeared from radar screens shortly after takeoff from Moscow's Domodedovo Airport.

Russia's Emergencies Ministry says fragments of the plan operated by Saratov Airlines have been found following the crash.

The Tass news agency says the plane fragments were found in the Ramenskoye area about 40km from the airport.
