iPhone X drives a jump in retail sales

Retail sales growth was stronger than expected in November.

Retail spending rose 1.2 per cent in November, beating market expectations of an increase of 0.4 per cent.

Seasonally adjusted retail spending totalled $26.38 billion in the month, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Household goods retailing rose 4.5 per cent, clothing, footwear and personal accessory sales rose 1.6 per cent, while department store sales fell 1.1 per cent.
