Unions escalate a picket at Melbourne port in dispute over a casual worker denied further shifts.

Unions will escalate their picket at the Melbourne port in an ongoing dispute over a casual worker who was denied a security clearance because of a conviction.

A rally has been called for 10am Friday at the Webb Dock, which has been picketed now for two weeks and which the Victorian International Container Terminal says threatens more than $100 million in business growth.

VICT successfully got a Supreme Court order for the Maritime Union Australia to stop the picket a week ago, but other unions have taken up the line since.
