A second sex shop has been targeted following the theft of "Dorothy" on Sunday.

A sex shop assistant has been doused with petrol and threatened during a frightening robbery at a Melbourne adult entertainment store.

The 45-year-old woman was working at Club X Bayswater, in Melbourne's east, when she was confronted by two men who sprayed her with what is believed to be petrol about midnight on Tuesday, before demanding money.

The duo stole cash before running away and the woman was not injured, police said on Wednesday.

It comes as another adult shop was robbed on Sunday of a busty, blonde, life-sized sex doll valued at almost $5000.

The man, armed with bolt cutters, broke into a Moorabbin adult store and stole Dorothy - "the perfect companion for lonely nights".

Police on Monday released a photo of the doll, which wears a pink negligee and stands at 168cm, as well as CCTV of a man they wish to speak with.
