ABC restructuring for digital innovation

ABC boss Michelle Guthrie has announced a comprehensive restructure of the public broadcaster.

ABC boss Michelle Guthrie is expected to reveal a new digital-led model for the public broadcaster in a massive overhaul to be announced on Tuesday.

The TV and radio divisions are expected to be rebranded video and audio under the restructure that's designed to give the ABC a renewed focus on digital platforms.

It's the latest step in the ABC's push for multi-platform units, including the investigative and specialist journalism units unveiled last month amid a shakeup of the 85-year-old broadcaster's current affairs division.

Earlier this year, Ms Guthrie announced up to 200 middle management job cuts in order to pump the savings into expanding the ABC's news coverage in regional areas.
