Government confident TPP will succeed

November 12, 2017

Trade Minister Steven Ciobo is confident of the TPP trade deal getting through.

Australia would have access to markets worth $1 trillion if renewed negotiations on a major free-trade agreement between 11 countries succeed.

Negotiations have been revived on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which has floundered since the US rejected the deal in January, with Canadian concerns regarding the deal remaining one of the final sticking points.

"This is something we've been able to put back on the table, we breathed life back into the TPP 11," Trade minister Steven Ciobo told ABC's Insiders on Sunday morning.
