Queensland's attorney-general is appealing against the sentence for the man who killed Cole Miller.

Queensland's attorney-general is appealing against the sentence of the man who dealt the punch that killed teenager Cole Miller.

Yvette D'Ath on Friday announced she had considered the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions and had appealed over Armstrong Renata's seven-year sentence for unlawful striking causing death.

Ms D'Ath said she had also considered the matter of Matthew Scown, who was sentenced last month over the manslaughter of Tyrell Cobb, but would not proceed with any legal challenge.
