Vic coalition to allow gas exploration

October 09, 2017

Victoria's Opposition Leader Matthew Guy says the coalition will allow conventional gas drilling.

Victorian farmers who allow conventional gas drilling on their properties will receive a 10 per cent share of royalties from the government if the coalition wins next year's election.

However, current bans on unconventional drilling, known as fracking, will remain in place across the state, Opposition Leader Matthew Guy announced on Monday.

"Allowing conventional gas drilling will benefit farmers and their communities, " Mr Guy told reporters.
