Victorian Nurses walk off the job at Bupa

October 09, 2017

Aged care nurses working for health giant Bupa have walked off the job in Melbourne.

Aged care workers at two Bupa nursing homes in Victoria will stop work on Monday in a bid to improve staffing levels, wages and conditions.

Nurses and carers will hold stop work meetings in Ballarat and Clayton on Monday, following 14 months of pay negotiations with the company, with seven other homes across Victoria to follow in coming days.

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation says a nurse or carer employed at Bupa earns 10 per cent less than their peers at other facilities.
