A teen has faced a Victorian court charged with the murder of Paul Costa in Melbourne.

A 16-year-old has faced a Victorian court charged with murder after he was extradited from NSW.

The teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before a Children's Court on Friday afternoon as one of three males charged with murdering Paul Costa, 43, whose body was discovered in a Brunswick West park in July.

Police arrested and charged the teen on Thursday at Newcastle, NSW, but a warrant for his arrest was issued more than a week ago, the court was told.
