Sydney Airport chaos as wind continues

September 15, 2017

Sydney Airport is bracing for another day of delays as strong winds continue to cause chaos.

Passengers at Sydney Airport can expect delays as strong winds continue to cause chaos, with 20 flights already cancelled on Friday morning.

It follows Thursday's wild winds which caused massive delays and cancelled more than 70 flights, with gusts of up to 72km/h forcing the closure of two of three runways.

Wind gusts of up to 50km/h have been recorded at the airport at 5am on Friday, with gusts forecast to increase later in the morning, a spokeswoman for Sydney Airport told AAP.

Two runways are open but it's expected planes will be reduced to using a single runway later on Friday morning, the spokeswoman said.
