Investors show strength as home loans slow

A boost in investor loans has surprised analysts as June home lending came in below expectations.

The number of home loan approvals has risen 0.5 per cent in June, missing market expectations for an increase of 1.5 per cent.

The value of total housing finance rose 0.8 per cent to $33.26 billion in the month, seasonally adjusted, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The value of loans approved for owner-occupied housing rose 0.3 per cent in June, while the value of loans for investment housing rose 1.6 per cent.
