Hiring discussion 'clouded' by concern

August 08, 2017

Former Queensland Education manager Glen Hoppner is on trial for alleged misconduct.

A former senior bureaucrat claims he "caved" to pressure to hire a friend of Queensland education director-general Julie Grantham.

David Morgan was the managing director of the Runaway Bay Sport and Leadership Excellence Centre in 2012 when he appointed Hunter Paltridge as Head of Programs, allegedly at the behest of his boss Glen Arnold Hoppner.

Mr Morgan told Hoppner's trial in the Brisbane District Court on Tuesday that he "caved" to the pressure to appoint Mr Paltridge even though he "felt it wasn't right".
