Former Wallabies coach John Connolly is suing the Queensland Rugby Union.

Former Wallabies and Queensland Reds coach John Connolly is suing the Queensland Rugby Union after being sacked as a coaching consultant.

Connolly was in July 2015 sacked six weeks into a $3000 a week job that was expected to last until the end of the 2016 Super Rugby Season, Brisbane District Court heard on Tuesday.

The legal action of more than $159,000 centres on the termination conditions of the consultancy role, for which there was a verbal agreement and three contracts - none of which were signed by both parties, the court heard.
