A former professional soccer player will face Brisbane Magistrates Court over alleged torture.

A former professional soccer player has been remanded in custody over the horrific torture of a young Brisbane woman that left her fighting for life in hospital.

Jeromy Lee Harris was refused bail in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday after it was revealed she was found in his house and he allegedly received a text message from her boyfriend saying she "smelt like death".

Defence solicitor Remy Kurz said his client was only charged with being an accessory after the fact, but Harris was deemed a flight risk by the magistrate because of his knowledge of the extent of the woman's injuries and his failure to act with "any kind of humanity".
